Steve Harrison is a studio potter with a particular gift for taking historical techniques and bringing them up to date. He trained for seven years, concluding at the Royal College of Art in 1993.

Steve makes individual salt glazed utilitarian pots, including tea pots, mugs, jugs and bowls. Each one is unique but unmistakably of the one family.

His finely thrown, innovative work is in a process of continuous evolution. His kiln has matured to the point that each firing marks a new stage in the works development. The form, function and aesthetic significance of the work places it in the context of today – progressive and challenging.Steve Harrisons workshop in Mid Wales

On his pottery wall Steve displays the reminder from William Leatherby. "Art which is only one person deep is no Art at all; Art that looks back as well as forward is where the challenge lies."

Steve transports all his bisque pots from his workshop in Enfield to his rural workshop and kiln site in mid Wales.

He sees this as an advantage to reassess the work in a different environment. He has to justify this lunacy.
